Fibromyalgia & your health
Fibromyalgia is a diagnosis that has gone through an evolutionary process and continues to develop based on various theories. One thing that remains constant is the fact that patients experience a profound impact on their lives and are forced to make varying degrees of adaptions in relation to their limitations.
Fibromyalgia - What is it?
Fibromyalgia comes from the Latin word term for fibrous tissue (fibro) and the Greek words for muscle(myo) and pain(algia). Immunological, neurological and physiological causes are currently being studied as well as the triggers that prompted the disease process. As yet, the scientific community is still waiting for a final conclusion. What we do know is in cases of fibtomyalgia, the muscles are in a state of prolonged tension.
This hypertonic state creates an overload and eventually leads to inflammation. The physiological results of this condition affect cellular ATP (adenosine tri-phosphate, the cells energy source) and magnesium levels (Mg is an ATP synthesizer). Decreased ATP levels achieve muscle contraction but do not achieve muscle relaxation. This increases muscle tension further, decreases elasticity which decreases micro circulation. This leads to a change in the local pH levels which activate pain receptors. The end result is the classic pain that fibromyalgia patients experience.
Fibromyalgia is a syndrome, a diagnosis that is reached based on an accumulation of symptoms rather than through diagnostics. Patients will typically exhibit some of the following symptoms; widespread muscle/joint pain, stiffness, tension headaches, bruxism, fatigue, anxiety, depression and sleep difficulties. Other related symptoms may include cold intolerance related to Raynauld’s syndrome, abdominal pain related to irritable bowel syndrome, painful periods, numbness and tingling in the extremities, restless legs, irritable bladder, chronic rhinitis/sinusitis, growth hormone deficiency, dizziness/problems with balance, cognitive and memory disturbances (fibro fog), sensitivity to loud noises or bright lights.
Our Fibromyalgia Treatments
We offer extensive support to patients with fibromyalgia.
Along with a variety of Custom IV Therapies such as Glutathione, Myer’s Cocktail, MSM, NAC, Curcumin, Amino Acid Combo’s and many more, we offer therapeutic Endermologie™ with a medically certified and scientifically proven LPG® Systems device.
Based on studies which detect a significant depletion of ATP due to hypertonic muscles, Endermologie™ works at a cellular level to stop the negative-feedback loop of pain affecting you. With regular sessions, pain and stiffness will be reduced and other disturbances such as sleep difficulties, fatigue and depression can exhibit improvement.
Our Physiotherapist and Registered Nurse work together with patents to achieve attainable goals that will relieve symptoms of fibromyalgia and improve the quality of life. The overall goal of incorporating Endermologie™ in the management of fibromyalgia is to improve quality of life and maintain a viable balance between diagnosis and perception of living a healthy lifestyle. When Endermologie™ is applied, decreased pain is achieved by increasing circulation. This promotes increased oxygen exchange, releases toxic waste products from the tissues and releases endorphins which add to the pain relief effect. As the level of pain decreases, rehabilitative exercises are incorporated to complement the healthcare plan.
Endermologie™, when combined with other therapies provides a gentle approach to wellness that enhances the desired goals of both the fibromyalgia patient and the health care team.
LPG® has a 25-year reputation in the treatment of connective tissue disorders. It has become a leader in the field of natural and non-invasive treatments which is validated by more than 80 studies and 200 scientific publications.
LPG® was founded in the mid 1980’s by Louis Paul Guitay in France. Mr. Guitay invented a method of treatment to help rehabilitate damaged muscle tissue as well as to treat burns and scars. His objective was to standardize physical therapy by providing precisely calibrated and consistent treatment through massage. It has since evolved to include treatments in wellness, beauty and sport.
This natural, non-invasive approach is accomplished with an LPG® Cellu M6i which is classed as an 11a medical device controlled by the A.F.S.SaP.S (French Agency for the Safety of Health Products.) LPG® Endermologie™ carries the CE mark which is the manufacturer’s declaration that the product meets the requirements of the applicable EC directives. It is a mandatory conformity marking within the European Economic Area and it is recognized by Health Canada, license no. 75865.
